.About WAJ on AUDIO S-V . .
Firstly; the moniker, 'High-End Audio', carries with it an aura of elitism. And, yes, there are some who revel in this aura as they gush about the cost of their gear - more power to them. But what the mainstream audio-press won't tell you is that true high-end sound, surpassing the quality of some of the most expensive gear, can also be achieved on a relatively reasonable budget, thru prudent choices.
Secondly, it has long been our fervent opinion that audiophiles, in general, have long been deceived and short-changed by some manufacturers, and by the mainstream audio-press, with regard to the 'HiFi'-systems which have been foisted upon the unsuspecting. Modern 'HiFi' speakers, especially, depart from the concept of HIGH-FIDELITY because of the fact that they're totally incapable of fidelity to the live sound. And, therefore, this site sees it fit to concentrate much of its focus on such points, from several perspectives, inevitably exposing the folly and deception of the modern focus.
The "S-V" in our own moniker stands for; 'Short-Version'. This implies that long-versions of these articles exist elsewhere - and they do. However, I've always felt that my other hifi site was rather raw and unrefined. For example, due to certain constraints in the configuration of that site, it was mostly done without the 'safety-net' of a 'spell-checker', causing one or two errors to slip thru (long story).
But the main 'fault I've found with that site relates exclusively to the writer; yours truly. One of my major faults is that; the more passionately I feel about a subject, then the more I'll chat or write about it. Therefore, I believe some of my better and most concise works have been about topics I couldn't care less about. For topics I'm passionate about, such as hifi, I tend to be hopelessly long-winded, in my opinion (though some disagree). I tend to pack such articles with as much info as I feel I can get away with, without boring the reader. And whenever I try to edit myself, by attempting to shorten said article, I usually end-up adding more as I feel I'd be short-changing the reader if I were to omit relevant info. And some readers do seem to appreciate this info-overload - craving even more.
But others, I'm sure, would rather to read a shortened version, with just the main points. The $64,000 question was; how do I cover both bases? The answer was this; allow the long versions to continue to exist (in their raw and unrefined state) and also provide shortened versions of said articles. Eureka! Problem solved.
The long versions of these articles may be found at WAJ on AUDIO, here.
O.K., so the preceding was about my hifi sites, so what about my own hifi philosophy and journey, thus far? Well, I promise that I'll do a piece on the subject as it'd be unfair to try to squeeze in all that info here.
In the meantime, though, do enjoy the shortened versions of my hifi articles, as I attempt to edit them and bring them to this site, one at a time.
Thanks for joining!
